Château Gort & Gort holiday home

Gîte on the banks of the Dordogne

From 1 May 2025, the Château Gort holiday home (formerly Chateau Gort B&B) is no longer a B&B, but can be rented in its entirety as a Gîte for 8 people.

The Château Gort holiday home is located a few kilometres from Château Gort & Gort, in the dreamy fishing village of Asques, on the banks of the Dordogne river, 20 km north of Bordeaux and 20 km south of St Émilion.

It is an eighteenth-century Maison de Maître, built of white stone blocks in the style of traditional Bordeaux wineries with a great terrace over the river.
This holiday home includes four beautiful winery rooms, all with private bathrooms and views of the Dordogne river
or on the countryside, in addition a well-equipped kitchen and a dining room.

Our holiday home is available for a long weekend (Fri-Mon), a midweek (Mon-Fri), a whole week (Mon-Mon, Fri-Fri) or longer.

The stay includes an unforgettable tour with extensive wine tasting at the nearby Château Gort & Gort (3 km)! Dogs are welcome.

The holiday home

On the first floor are two charming wine-growers' rooms, both equipped with an authentic double canopy bed (160x200cm). The Merlot-Suite has a spacious bathroom showcasing a characteristic enamel chateau bathtub on legs (high entry); Chambre Malbec has a shower and offers a phenomenal view of the Dordogne.

On the second floor you will find the cosy attic rooms: Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The magnificent, low-hanging cockpit beam constructions in both rooms provide the attic with real Château charm. Chambre Cabernet Franc has a spacious double bed (180x200cm), Chambre Cabernet Sauvignon has two comfortable single beds (90x200cm). The bathrooms on this floor are both equipped with a private toilet and shower.

All beds have good hotel-quality mattresses. On arrival, they are made up with crisp bed linen and soft towels are provided.

Children are also very welcome! Upon request, we can prepare an extra cot and/or baby bed.
The authentic living kitchen is fully equipped: a gas cooker, oven, microwave, coffee maker, milk frother, large fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer.

There is plenty of room for extensive cooking and dining together. A ten-minute drive away is a delicious bakery, where you can go every day for crusty baguettes and warm croissants. There are also hypermarkets in the neighbourhood, and weekly nice local markets to visit.

Set the table outside and enjoy your meal in the shade of the old trees on the terrace on the banks of the Dordogne. Bon appétit!
The cosy lounge is a nice place to end the day together. Settle on the sofa with a book from the Châteaubieb, or challenge each other to a game of Wine Farmers' Quartet.

There is good wifi and a TV screen with HDMI cable. You will also find a comprehensive folder with tourist information for young and old, a high chair and some toys.
Opposite the Gîte you will find the enclosed, green garden and spacious terrace on the Dordogne. Unwind in this unique location, and enjoy a nice glass of cool wine in the shade of the trees while overlooking the water.

There is a bike shed, a BBQ and cosy French bistro furniture.
The Gîte is on a narrow street, which we share with our dear French neighbours. In order not to disturb their peace and quiet, we ask you not to drive all the way down the street.

You can possibly drop off your luggage at the Gîte and then drive backwards along the same path to the car park; the car can be parked at the beginning of the street.

Be careful not to drive into the ditch!

Château Gort & Gort and the holiday home

The Château Gort holiday home is part of the Château, but is not located near the castle. It is just a 5-minute drive away, in the neighbouring village of Asques. From the castle wall you can see it on the river Dordogne.

Within a 10-minute drive from the holiday home, you will find shops and quaint French Bistrots. Asques is 20 km from the medieval wine villages of Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, 30 km from the impressive Citadelle of Blaye and 25 km from the beautiful city of Bordeaux. The Bay of Arcachon is about an hour away.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, we really like the Château Gort holiday home. Because you stay in a beautiful stone house that is completely authentically decorated, with scrumptious beds. And it has a terrace on the Dordogne, which you can enjoy from sunrise to sunset. So yes: the Château Gort Gîte is a lot of fun!

Unfortunately, during harvest we are busy getting the grapes in safely. The Château then closed for tours, tastings and shop visits. But the good news is: the Gîte does open and there are lots of fun things to do in the area, so you're warmly bienvenue!

When exactly the harvest is we cannot predict, but between mid-September and mid-October is most likely.

There are four double rooms, but at on request, we can provide an additional cot and/or cot formatting.

Very nice! Retrieved from application we can make an extra cot and/or cot, and there are some toys and a high chair available. At the end of the street is a playground, and there are also fun activities to do with the whole family in the further surroundings. We are happy to give you tips!

Oui, the dog is welcome! You may bring your faithful four-legged friend to the holiday home, for which there is an additional fee of € 50 cleaning fee will be charged per booking. A place to sleep, food bowls and some snacks will be provided for him.

Unfortunately not. Coming by plane or train? Then we advise you to take a car hire. At Bordeaux-Mérignac airport and Bordeaux Saint-Jean train station, there are several car rental companies.

Not in Asques itself, but for lunch and dinner you can go in the area, at about 7 kilometres away. When you check in, you will receive some tasty tips for restaurants in the nearby villages. Furthermore, the holiday home has a spacious kitchen diner, where you can of course prepare your own delicious creations.

Choose your arrival and departure dates on the calendar and follow the instructions. You pay during the booking procedure and receive confirmation by e-mail. The minimum stay is three nights and you can only check in/out on Mondays or Fridays.
